Daragoan Retreat (Gurung Homestay ) is run by Mr.Shiva Gurung and his family. Mrs.Radha Gurung is a knowledgeable housekeeper who cooks very tasty and delicious local food. His daughter Neysang and son Prabal support their parents whenever they visit their home during school/college vacation. His two niece Sumeena and Prasana  also lends a helping hand in managing the homestay. Mr. Gurung is member of Darap Eco-Tourism committee and Pelling Tourism Development Association. He is working for Sustainable and Responsible Tourism in an around the village. The homestay provides organic items as souvenir.

About Daragaon Retreat Gurung Homestay

Daragaon Retreat (Gurung Homestay) is at Darap Village on Namboo road which is situated around 8 kms away from Pelling. This Homestay gives a homely and quiet atmosphere. Meals are prepared using organic vegetables from adjacent fields. Guests will get a glimpse of the village way of life , the people of Sikkim, their language, culture, rituals, customs, and food. Daragaon Retreat has eight rooms in three traditional huts and has an annex sister homestay for accommodation.

  • Vegetation is fragile, follow the designated path, and always travel with a guide.

  • Avoid plastics, dump your garbage in given designated areas.
  • Room services only available for sick and old guests.
  • Refill your drinking water from water filter to avoid multiple uses of plastic bottles. 
  • Maintain silence.

  • Don’t disturb the wildlife or its habitat.
  • Don’t buy endangered species or antiques.
  •  Don’t dry your undergarments outside.
  •  Don’t feed waste food to the animals ie; dogs, cats, fish.
  •  Don’t offer money to kids; it encourages begging.
