About Koko Mhendo Homestay - Bara Mangwa
Welcome to Koko Mhendo Homestay, a peaceful retreat in the beautiful village of Baramangwa Busty, Darjeeling. Situated in the Teesta Valley on the western side of the Kalimpong hills, Baramangwa is a charming, offbeat destination. Known for its stunning views of Mt. Kanchenjunga and the Teesta River, the village is surrounded by lush orange orchards and offers a serene escape into Himalayan rural life.
The name Baramangwa, meaning “a big place of finger millet” in Lepcha, reflects the area's cultural roots. Similarly, our homestay’s name, "Koko Mhendo," honors the Tamang tribe's sacred flower, used in ceremonies like pujas, birthdays, and marriages. This flower symbolizes worship, celebration, and tradition—values we embrace in providing warm hospitality and a cultural experience for our guests.
